Looking for somewhere to eat, we were attracted by the riverside location and all the pretty Christmas lights. When we went in, everyone was outside on the deck - and when we went outside on the deck, it looked like a private party. I asked.
"Yes it is," said the man behind the bar, "but you're invited."
And they would really hardly take no for an answer, but insisted that we join them and wouldn't let us make any contribution. (Now I would never expect to rock up to a restaurant and not be allowed to pay, and if/when we go back there'll be no such carry-on! But on this occasion, we went with the flow. I think it might have been pot luck? Which in no wise detracts from the kindness of our reception!)
Most of the folks kept to their own groups but a few came over to pass the time of day. Laid out buffet style were chilli, sliders, four kinds of pie, and much more - and out on the water the last few boats who'd come up from Parker to show off their pretty lights. The resort had also just had their annual Christmas lights golf cart competition (these two events were the reason for the dinner, I gather) and we were in time to hear some of the prizes given out (and get a photo or two.)
Thank you, Sandbar, nobody could ask for a warmer welcome.
